HollandMT launches the SOLAR-POWERPACK at Europort

For remote hydraulic power-requirements, HollandMT has developed the SOLAR-POWERPACK.

This 12V DC -electric driven powerpack provides hydraulic power to remotely located equipment which is not continuously operated or only at lengthy time intervals, such as hydraulic operated sand-fill valves in dredging disposal areas.

The SOLAR-POWERPACK provides a mobile (compact), safe, economic and GREEN-alternative to bulky, maintenance- and fuel- demanding diesel driven powerpacks.

The SOLAR-POWERPACK is NEW to the dredging industry and first shown at Europort 2013 exhibition at AHOY show grounds in Rotterdam, 5-8 November 2013. Visit HollandMT at stand 3001 !

Name-giving 2400 m3 TSHD

On Thursday July 4th, Ching Fu Shipbuilding Ltd. re-launched the 2400 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger from dry dock.

After the official launching from slipway on April 15th, the TSHD was temporarily dry-docked to complete the hull outfitting and paint work.

On the same day of re-launching the name of the dredger was revealed: KAO 505.

The KOA 505 is constructed for the Kaohsiung Harbor Bureau and will be used to maintain Kaohsiung port and conduct small capital dredging projects.

Within the next coming months, the outfitting and testing of the dredger will completed along quayside and delivery is scheduled for 3rd quarter 2013.

For this project HollandMT has supplied the TSHD design (in cooperation with FKAB) and all dredging equipment.

Launching of 2400 m3 TSHD

Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on Monday 15 April 2013 Ching Fu Shipbuilding launched a 2400 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD).

The vessel has been ordered by Kaohsiung Harbor Bureau (KHB) and will be used for daily maintenance of Kaohsiung port.

The TSHD has been designed by FKAB in cooperation with HollandMT and incorporates KHB’s requirements for a highly maneuverable dredger, suitable for maintenance dredging but also for small capital dredging projects.

The dredger is designed in accordance with the rules of Bureau Veritas, features a single dragarm, direct diesel driven inboard dredge pump, flush bottom doors, bow coupling, adjustable overflow and degassing system.

In the aft of the vessel, the engine room is situated, comprising the main propulsion machinery, diesel generators and auxiliary equipment. The dredge- and jet-pump are located in the fore ship. The propulsion plant consists of a double shaft arrangement, each with a fixed pitch propeller. An electric powered bow thruster is fitted for easy maneuvering and positioning on the job. The full size accommodation is located on the aft ship and is fitted with 12 crew cabins.

For this project HollandMT also designed and supplied the complete dredging system including dredge pump, jetwater system, dragarm and gantries, winches, bow coupling, all dredge pipe lines & gate valves, 12 bottom doors & operating mechanism, overflow, degassing system and dredge instrumentation & monitoring system.

The dredger is expected to be completed in the 3rd quarter of this year.

HollandMT launches NEW Bow Coupling

Holland Marine Technologies BV has developed a new range of bow-coupling systems for Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHD). The bow-coupling system enables a TSHD to couple and discharge slurry via a floating dredge pipeline or by means of a rain-bow nozzle (for beach replenishment).

The HollandMT bow coupling system is fitted with a unique coupling mechanism to the floating dredge pipeline. The coupling mechanism comprises of a click-in ball joint mechanism (male-part) which is locked and released by a single hydraulic cylinder mechanism. This mechanism is designed to perform in rugged operating conditions; any sand or dirt accumulation will not interfere with the locking and releasing mechanism of the male part.

The new range bow couplings has been developed for 500 to 900 mm dredge pipe line. The first order for a 700 mm unit has been awarded to HollandMT and delivery of the bow-coupling unit and winch is scheduled for March 2013.
