HollandMT completes dredging system for 200 m3 TSHD

In August 2017, HollandMT completed delivery and commissioned a dredging system for a 200 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger. The THSD was built by Neptune Shipyards and is destined to work in the Caspian sea.

As first in a range of compact Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers developed by Neptune shipyards, this hopper dredger is very versatile and highly manoeuvrable, designed to maintain small seaports and harbours.

The scope of dredging equipment designed and supplied by HollandMT included a state-of-the art 300/250 mm dragarm & gantry system with a hydraulic powered submerged dredge pump. HollandMT also provided all dredge-pipelines, loading ducts, bottom door system and design integration of the dredging equipment into the vessel.

HollandMT receives new order for 2 set of TSHD equipment

In June, Barkmeijer shipyard awarded the contract to HollandMT for design & supply of dredging systems for two new 3,000 cubic metre trailing suction hopper dredgers for marine aggregate dredging.

For each vessel, the scope of dredging equipment includes a state-of-the art 700 mm dragarm & gantry system with submerged dredge pump enabling a maximum dredging depth of -60 m. Besides this HollandMT will also provide all dredge-pipelines, gate-valves and design integration of the dredging equipment into the vessel.

The two dredgers will be built for Hanson Aggregates in the UK, a division of the Heidelberg cement group. Delivery of these new aggregate dredgers is the first step in a strategic replacement programme for Hanson’s existing fleet of eight dredgers which deliver marine aggregates into a network of wharves in both the UK and continental Europe.

The new dredgers which will enter service in 2019 and will be equivalent in size to Hanson’s existing A-Class vessels, carrying up to 5,500 tonnes of sand and gravel. The new ships, which will provide major improvements in fuel consumption, reliability and CO2 emissions. The vessels will be built at Barkmeijer’s yard at Stroobos in the Netherlands.

Solar powerpack launched after successful testing

In cooperation with leading dredging Contractor Boskalis, HollandMT has successfully completed the field testing program of the SOLAR POWERPACK at the IJmuiden ship lock expansion project. In this dredging project, the SOLAR POWERPACK was engaged 24/7 and provided hydraulic power to sand-fill valves in the TSHD dredge-disposal area.

Demands for GREEN-technology in the dredging industry inspired HollandMT to develop the SOLAR POWERPACK. The stand-alone 24 VDC - driven powerpack can provide hydraulic power to remotely located equipment which is not continuously operated or only at time intervals, such as hydraulic operated sand-fill valves in dredging disposal areas.

The SOLAR-POWERPACK provides a durable, safe, economic and GREEN-alternative for bulky, maintenance- and fuel-demanding diesel driven powerpacks.

The SOLAR-POWERPACK can power 2 sand-fill valves simultaneously and is delivered including control unit and integrated fold-out solar panels. The unit can also be charged by an external (110-230 V) power source and optionally the unit can be fitted with remote (radio) control.
